Professional Teacher

 I have been pretty excited to be a teacher for about 18 years. I'm glad I'm finally getting the schooling done so I can fulfill this dream. However, this class has absolutely helped me solidify my decision to be a professional teacher. Having the opportunity to spend time in a classroom, watching so many videos of classrooms in action, and reading a lot of articles about teacher development has all helped me feel more confident in my decision. I can assuredly say that this career path is for me.  I am going into the secondary education program so being in an elementary school this semester was interesting. I knew that I didn't want to be a teacher in an elementary setting and while I had a great time in the 5th grade class the last few months, I can say this assignment helped me know for sure that I don't want to work in elementary grades. Connections Assessment

  There have been many things I've been able to connect between the course topics and the Service Learning. Somethings I noticed were applied in the classroom and somethings I noticed the teacher did not apply. This class is brief and not intensive, but it has made me very excited for going into the Secondary Education program and learning more about these topics in depth. I have appreciated the things I've learned and have even applied somethings into my children's education (like a 504 plan for my son, after learning about them in this class!). The blogging assignments are a very interesting way of reflecting on the application of topics in Service Learning. I'm not sure how often teachers use blogs for their educating and education, but it has been a nice change to just submitting on the canvas text box.
